Dr. Kilby, a native of Wilkes County, North Carolina, proudly continues to call the area home. After completing his education, he served as a flight surgeon in the United States Air Force before returning to establish his private internal medicine practice in North Wilkesboro.
Known for his exceptional bedside manner, Dr. Kilby is dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered care. At Tri-County Primary Care, patients are always the top priority. Under Dr. Kilby’s leadership, the team is committed to enhancing each patient’s health and overall quality of life through personalized and attentive medical care.
Education and Training
Dr. Kilby earned his undergraduate degree from Wake Forest College before going on to complete medical school at Bowman Gray School of Medicine. He then completed his residency in internal medicine at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. His service as a flight surgeon in the United States Air Force further enriched his clinical experience and broadened his medical expertise.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Kilby has taken on a variety of leadership and clinical roles, reflecting his versatility and dedication to the field of healthcare. His experience includes serving as a county public health director, hospital board member, insurance vice president and medical director, contract physician for the North Carolina Department of Corrections, and medical director of the Wilkes County Detention Center.
In addition, Dr. Kilby has worked as a collaborative physician with Express Care of Yadkinville and has participated in medical mission work in Guatemala—demonstrating his commitment to expanding access to quality care both locally and internationally.
